India will try to replicate its outstanding performances from the just-completed ODI World Cup 2023 in the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024. There have been numerous conversations about who will captain the Men in Blue in the competition as the main event draws near. Many have voiced their opinions, including former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, that seasoned batsman Rohit Sharma should continue to captain the team in the Twenty20 World Cup. More than the batter Rohit, Kaif believes that India needs the captain Rohit. He praised his performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well as the tactical choices he made all through the competition.

It is noteworthy that during the South Africa tour, India will have three different captains for each format: Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20I team, KL Rahul will lead the ODI team, and Rohit will lead the Test team.
Since the series is also a part of the World Test Championship 2023–25 cycle, the Indian squad will be looking for an improved performance on the South Africa tour after their heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final.
