In their first IPL 2025 match, the Gujarat Titans (GT) will host the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Shubman Gill, India’s young star batsman, who has been getting a lot of accolades from his colleagues, will captain the squad. Mohammed Siraj, a star bowler and current teammate, is among the players who have given the 26-year-old a lot of praise.
Gill will be captaining the 2022 IPL champions for the second time. Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj appears to have complete faith in the Champions Trophy champion, despite the fact that supporters have been assessing his leadership skills. He referred to Gill as a “bowler’s captain” and talked about their close relationship, remembering their time together on the Indian team and their 2020 Border-Gavaskar Trophy debuts.
Shubman is a bowler’s skipper and an excellent captain. He gives the bowlers whatever they ask for. He allows the bowlers that freedom. We have a fantastic friendship, and whenever Axar Patel, Shubman, Rishabh Pant, and I are outside, we normally go out and eat dinner together. Thus, we have a really close bond. We also made our Test debut together (against Australia in 2020 in Melbourne), which strengthens our bond even further,” Siraj stated in an interview with Boria Majumdar.
Mohammed Siraj on his collaboration with Ashish Nehra
Siraj spent the last seven years playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and there is no denying that he was one of the team’s best bowlers. At this point, he will be eager to make his IPL debut for GT, his third represented team. He will also collaborate with the team’s head coach, Ashish Nehra, a previous World Cup winner from 2011. Siraj has publicly commended Nehra for being a calm person and for giving him the chance to teach him.
“He is legendary.” I gain a lot of knowledge from him. It is crucial that he maintains his composure. However, I don’t like to remain composed. A lot of wickets were being taken with the new ball by Shami (Mohammed Shami) bhai, who also played here. Taking as many wickets as possible with the new ball and keeping my team ahead is what I would like to do as well,” the 2020–21 Gabba hero continued.
