Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), denied to Indian media on Wednesday, October 1, that he had apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the trophy handover incident at Sunday’s Asia Cup 2025 final.
The Asia Cup’s closing ceremony degenerated into comedy on Sunday when the Indian cricket team refused to accept the winners’ trophy from the ACC chairman, marking a historic low in cricketing ties between the two countries.
“Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologized to the BCCI nor will I ever do so. This fabricated nonsense is nothing but cheap propaganda, aimed only at misleading their own people. Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game,” Naqvi shared on his official social media handle on Wednesday.
Furthermore, Mohsin Naqvi also shared that as a dedicated president of the continental body, he will all but willing to hand over the trophy to the Indian team, the deserved winners.
Mohsin Naqvi has openly announced that the Indian team or the BCCI is free to come to the ACC office and take the trophy away, which has been in his undue custody since the finale in Dubai.
“As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me,” the PCB chief wrote further.
