Salil Ankola, an actor and former cricket player for India, has been going through a very depressing time in his life. On Friday, October 4, the mother of the cricket player, Mala Ankola, was discovered dead in her Pune flat. The police conducted a comprehensive inspection of the residence and have since started the investigations.
Up until now, the case has perplexed everyone, even the investigators. She was found with a stab wound to her neck, according to the authorities, which was a shocking discovery. The police considered it perplexing as, according to DNA, no one had broken into Ankola’s mother’s house with force during the early investigations.
Therefore, the reason for the stabbing remained a mystery. Whether or not it was a murder case is still up for debate. In a similar vein, Salil Ankola used social media to announce the tragic news of his mother’s passing after losing his dear mother. Based on his latest message, it appeared like he was grieving as he said goodbye to his mother.
Ankola posted on his Instagram page, “Good bye Mom,” along with an emoji of a crushed heart.

Speaking of Salil Ankola, he played his first Test match for Team India against Pakistan on November 15, 1989. In addition, he represented his country in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) wearing the Blue jersey. Furthermore, in 1996, he participated as an Indian representative in the ODI World Cup.
However, his promising career was cut short when he decided to withdraw from international cricket in 1997 at the age of just 29. After that, he moved to Bollywood, where in 2000 he debuted as an actor with superstar Sanjay Dutt. The title of his first film was Kurukshetra. Subsequently, he acted in a number of well-known films, including The Power, Riwayat, Ekta, and Chura Liya Hai Tumne.
Salil Ankola’s bright career in cricket came to an end in 1997 when he retired at the young age of 29. He later ventured into the Bollywood industry. In the 2000 film Kurukshetra, he costarred with Sanjay Dutt, marking his acting debut. Salil thereafter got casts in a number of films, including The Power, Ekta, Riwayat, Chura Liya Hai Tumne, and others.

He participated in 20 ODIs and one Test match for India overall. But he reconnected with Indian cricket a few years ago and was appointed national selector. He gave up the coveted position of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in August 2024.
