The Chennai Super Kings decided to keep MS Dhoni before the Indian Premier League 2025 megatauble. Though he will be playing without a cap, the veteran will once again don the yellow shirt. Due to Dhoni’s five-year absence from international competition and his eligibility to participate as an uncapped player, CSK took advantage of the new regulation enforced by the BCCI, which paid him INR 4 crore.
Amidst the preparations for the auction of the renowned India captain’s team, the veteran was recently seen in Ranchi celebrating his gym buddy’s birthday. As the batter-wicketkeeper stood next to him, he sliced the cake, and Dhoni complied by eating a piece. The same video was posted to the concerned individual’s Instagram account.

Playing a professional sport makes it harder to have fun: MS Dhoni
It is important to note that the IPL 2025 mega auction is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. Five players have been retained by CSK: Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and MS Dhoni. After spending INR 65 crore on retentions, they will have INR 55 crore when they go up for auction. Speaking on the rest of his IPL career at the Rigi event, Dhoni stated that all he wants is to continue playing the game for a few more years.
“All I want is to enjoy playing cricket as much as I can in the remaining years. Like how we used to go outside and play around 4 p.m. when we were kids, simply having fun with the game.
