‘Opposition doesn’t matter, winning does’- MS Dhoni on CSK vs MI rivalry

MS Dhoni has shown his appreciation for the help he receives from fans and supporters. The 43-year-old added that he believes it is crucial to win games regardless of the opponent and that the rivalry between CSK and MI has no personal impact on his performance.

Dhoni asserted that the IPL is the largest event after international cricket and that India is the greatest environment to play cricket.

“One of the most important things is playing for the Indian cricket team. “The IPL is the best thing that can happen since I’m not playing international cricket,” the former captain of CSK told JioHotstar.

The great athlete said that receiving support from the opposing teams’ supporters is a “amazing feeling.”

“Even when you’re playing against the team they want to win, they still want you to perform, contribute a little, or do anything else you can. Everyone is really thrilled when you walk in, they’re waiting for you, and they want you to do well. “It’s an incredible sensation,” Dhoni continued.

Dhoni responded that his objective has always been to perform against every opponent because playing against a particular opponent would not offer his team extra points when asked if the rivalry between CSK and MI influences his performance. “I want to play against every team as a batter. What is expected of me by the side I am batting against? You strive to bat and execute in accordance with that. There isn’t any rivalry, in my opinion. Since it only puts more pressure on you, I don’t choose teams as personal or franchise rivalries.

“You ultimately receive the same number of points if you defeat any franchise in a game. Of course, that point might be a little more important depending on where they are on the table. But you must hold the same opinion. You want to continue playing well and outperform every team. Personally, I don’t care about the opponents. Winning is important.

“Whether it’s Mumbai or any other franchise, it is the case. It is a discussion point, though. It’s beneficial for the IPL overall, and people enjoy discussing rivalries. When a rivalry between two franchises is successfully established, it resembles a derby game, with A vs. B always being a crucial match. You can discuss it, look at the statistics, and consider the past. We have a lot of statistics because we have been playing in the IPL since 2008,” he remarked.
