The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the bitter rival Mumbai Indians (MI) by four wickets in their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The game progressed to the final over, but it wasn’t meant to be exciting because the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals. With a prudent 65 runs in 45 balls, Rachin Ravindra assisted CSK in winning.
Following the win, MS Dhoni was spotted jokingly striking former teammate Deepak Chahar with the bat.
In addition to drawing CSK’s first blood in the second innings, the bowler struck three sixes with the bat. Chahar’s performance today made it abundantly clear that he was in an angry temper. On social media, the video of their amicable conversation went viral.

In their 20 overs, MI, who batted first, managed just 155 runs at a cost of nine wickets. The outstanding 51-run partnership between captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma in the middle overs was insufficient. When it was most required, the hitters underneath them were unable to score runs. Noor Ahmad and Khaleel Ahmed, CSK’s most recent signings, took four and three wickets, respectively.
Rahul Tripathi, who entered the game as an impact player, was dismissed for just two runs when CSK was called in to bat in the second innings. After taking his wicket, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad entered the game and faced Trent Boult, MI’s top bowler. He was able to settle down after hitting two lovely boundaries.
Nevertheless, the team continued to lose wickets, which compelled MS Dhoni to bat in the second last over. Even though CSK needed four runs to win, he just played two deliveries. Rachin Ravindra secured victory with a massive six in the opening ball of the last over.
