Before the IPL 2024 season began, Dhoni was spotted mimicking Ravindra Jadeja by lifting his hands following a stroke during the nets practice. As fans relived CSK’s record fifth IPL victory in 2023, the incident’s video is going viral on social media.
The reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are putting in a lot of practice before facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024 curtain-raiser. Former captain MS Dhoni was spotted having fun during the tight practise sessions, mimicking Ravindra Jadeja’s victory celebration in the IPL 2023.
Notably, with four runs needed to win off the final ball against Gujarat Titans, the southpaw was able to find a boundary towards fine leg. Ravindra Jadeja’s celebration of hitting the winning run was palpable as he went around the stadium, arms up, punching the air with joy. This produced a ripple effect throughout the stadium and the CSK camp.

Notably, skipper MS Dhoni was also seen becoming emotional as he hoisted the all-rounder in his arms in celebration after Jadeja scored the game-winning runs to give CSK an exciting victory in the IPL 2023 final. It was anticipated that the previous season would be Dhoni’s final IPL campaign. But as a token of appreciation for all the love his followers have shown him throughout India, “Captain Cool” promised to return for another edition.
In the IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain CSK.
Ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League, Dhoni made the startling decision to transfer the captaincy duties to Ruturaj Gaikwad. The batsman and wicketkeeper had hinted in a Facebook post earlier this month that he will play a different role in the forthcoming season. CSK eventually revealed Gaikwad’s new role by naming him the captain of the 17th season.
