With his spectacular knock against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, April 14, during Match 29 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, former captain of both Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India, MS Dhoni, once again turned back the clock. In the final over of the innings, with four balls remaining, the wicketkeeper-batter decided to bat. He attacked Hardik Pandya, hitting him for three straight sixes.
With each hit, the 42-year-old electrified the crowd with a rapid-fire knock of 20 off just four balls. The first of Dhoni’s three maximums was remarkable; he struck a wide delivery outside the off stump and lofted it high into the night sky, where it crossed long off for a huge six.

Returning to action, CSK amassed a mammoth 206/4 in the 20 overs given to them after being put in to bat. This was made possible by half-centuries from Shivam Dube (66* off 38) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (69* off 40), as well as a brief appearance by MS Dhoni.

With Rohit Sharma (105* off 63) being the lone warrior with his century, MI were only able to achieve 186/6 in their allotted 20 overs in response. For CSK, Matheesha Pathirana was outstanding with the ball, registering figures of 4/28 in four overs. After their victory, Chennai held onto third place in the standings with eight points from six games, while Mumbai dropped to ninth place with just four points from six games.
