Mustafizur Rahman, a left-arm bowler from Bangladesh, is unlikely to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final leg. Although the bowler was signed by the Delhi Capitals (DC) as a temporary replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, it is unclear if he will play in the competition.
Due to Fraser-McGurk’s decision to withdraw from the 18th IPL for personal reasons, the Delhi Capitals were forced to bring on Mustafizur Rahman as a temporary player.
To clarify that he was going to Dubai with the Bangladeshi team for the two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 17 and 19, the 29-year-old posted on social media.
He has not yet received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), according to the reports. Because to the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL was suspended and had to be halted for a week. After the halt, most of the foreign players flew home and are working to return to India as quickly as possible.
Many players are unable to compete because of the league’s revised schedule, which conflicts with multiple bilateral series, since they prioritise their national commitment. A number of franchises expressed worry over this, which prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to modify the regulation to allow for temporary hires.

After players like Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana chose to leave the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and join the national squad in Dubai, the BCB is reportedly cautious about making a choice that won’t cause friction with the PCB and the BCCI.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board official was cited by as stating, “We are not saying that we won’t let Mustafizur play in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals, but at the same time, there is a thing called national commitment and he needs to fulfil that.”
In addition, the director questioned, “What would we have done with the two cricket players who participated in the PSL if we had released him in that case? They could have questioned why we weren’t releasing them.”
Rahman, the left-arm pacer, may join the DC team after Monday, but he won’t play in the match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Delhi. As their last league games, the Axar Patel-led team will also play the Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 21 and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 24.
