On Sunday, February 18, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, veteran pacer Mustafizur Rahman was hit in the head during a training session for the Comilla Victorians.
Mustafizur Rahman was walking back to his bowling mark when he was hit on the back of the head by a drive from Comilla skipper Litton Das, according to sources.
The left-arm pacer’s head began to leak blood, and ice was provided right away. After that, he was hoisted off the ground and taken to Imperial Hospital’s emergency room where he was examined and given care.
Mustafizur Rahman was facing the ball when it struck him, according to video that has been making the rounds on social media. After the event, he was treated to right away by the players and support staff.
“Mustafizur Rahman was struck by a ball squarely in the left parietal area, or head, during practice. His parietal wound was open, so we managed to halt the bleeding with compression bandages before transferring him right away to Imperial Hospital. We are confident that he only had external injuries after the CT scan. No intracranial bleeding is present. Zahidul Islam, the team physiotherapist, was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as stating, “Now the surgical team has given him stitches on the open wound.”
As he was ready to be transferred to the hospital, the 28-year-old was functioning normally, according to Comilla’s media manager Sohanuzzaman Khan.
“He appeared to be acting normally when we were getting him ready for the ride to the hospital,” Khan said to ESPNcricinfo.
In the current Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Satkhira native has had a respectable season. In the nine games that he has participated in, he has taken 11 wickets. Mustafizur has a strike rate of 15 and an average of 23.91 when using the ball. But in several of the games, he has been taken for quite a few runs, and his 9.56 economy rate highlights this.
Having played nine games in the BPL 2024, Comilla is ranked second on the points table after winning seven and losing two. On Monday, February 19, they are scheduled to play the struggling Sylhet Strikers at Chattogram.
