Kochi, March 7, 2024 Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, gave some insight into his tenure with the team and his style of leadership in the IPL 2024 season.
That was, I believe, prior to this season. I believe Manoj Badale, our primary owner, approached me when we were playing in Dubai and inquired as to whether I was prepared to take the team’s lead. I declared myself ready. That was it, it was that easy. I felt that I had been a part of this franchise for long enough and had played enough games to know that I could fill that role, and I was confident in my ability to do so. And I’m thrilled that everything is going well,” Samson remarked at the Kochi #StarNahiFar event.
Sanju Samson emphasized that he wanted his batting style and performance to be unique.
He disclosed that he was trying to play with a more aggressive mindset and was trying to hit big shots early in his innings.
“I believe that in the world’s best country—which is, in my opinion, the best in the world—the quantity of players, talent, and level of competition present mean that a man from Kerala needs to perform exceptionally well in order to secure a spot on the national team. For this reason, I have always aspired to be exceptional. I’ve always wished for my batting style to be distinctive. “My aim was to establish my own batting style and achieve my goal of hitting a six, even on the opening ball,” stated Samson.
“I simply wanted to try something new, like, why do we have to wait for ten balls to get a six? That’s a change in perspective that I had. If it feels right, I’ll do it at the first ball. That was the driving force behind the development of my power stroke, and I believe that many people helped me.
A lot of things happen behind the scenes, which only I and my close friends are aware of, so I’m thrilled that things are going well, but as you can imagine, the work never stops. When it comes to the team I play for, I honestly never feel satisfied. I always want to keep going and do something amazing,” he continued.
