Cricket Australia has confirmed that Nathan Lyon will miss the rest of the domestic season. Lyon sustained a high-grade right hamstring injury while fielding in the third Test of the ongoing Ashes. He had a successful surgical procedure on December 23.
Nathan Lyon, on the other hand, is likely to miss the rest of the season due to the severity of the injury. His return to action will be evaluated based on his progress during his recovery regimen.
Pat Cummins, the Australian Test and ODI captain who was just ruled out of the fourth and impending fifth Tests of the Ashes after missing the first two, will be undergoing a prescribed phase of workload management. He’s now rehabilitating from a back injury. Cummins will undergo scheduled scans in the coming weeks.
Seamer Josh Hazlewood has resumed normal sprints and running. He’s rehabbing from a hamstring ailment and Achilles pain. Hazlewood’s rehabilitation is believed to be on track, and he will most likely be eligible for the T20 World Cup in February and March of next year.
Middle-order batter Tim David has been ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing Big Bash League due a recent Grade Two right hamstring strain. He injured his hamstring while running between the wickets during Hobart Hurricanes’ clash against Perth Scorchers. David will be in a race against time to be available for selection for the mega event in India and Sri Lanka next year.
Australia enter the fifth Test of the ongoing Ashes while leading via a 3-1 margin. The hosts are scheduled to play the final game at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 4. The BBL in which quite a few prominent Australian cricketers are playing, is slated to conclude on January 25.
