Krunal Pandya Navjot Singh Sidhu, a former cricketer and broadcaster, has selected Indian veteran Rohit Sharma captain of his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 squad. The announcement was made on his YouTube account following the completion of the 18th season of the IPL.
The tournament concluded on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifting the famous trophy for the first time in their history.
Sidhu praised Rohit’s leadership and legacy, citing his five IPL victories, one T20 World Cup, and one Champions Trophy victory. He emphasised that once Rohit regained his form, the Mumbai Indians (MI) looked like a different team. He also praised Rohit and Virat Kohli as the best openers in the white-ball format, citing their experience at the top of the order.
Rohit returned to form with a 70-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 23. He demonstrated his worth by hitting another half-century against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 1, helping the five-time winners secure a position in the IPL 2025 playoffs.
On May 30, the Indian legend scored 81 runs to win the Eliminator against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Mullanpur, propelling MI into Qualifier 2. Despite his best efforts, MI lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2 on June 1 in Ahmedabad.
Rohit finished his campaign with 418 runs in 15 innings at an outstanding strike rate of 149.28, demonstrating his worth as a big-match performer.

Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Nicholas Pooran, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Noor Ahmad, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood.
