In the IPL 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have captured the hearts of all with their brand of cricket. Nehal Wadhera, who has already demonstrated the potential to play some big shots in the tournament, is one of the franchise’s fascinating players.
The Punjabi left-handed hitter made his IPL debut in 2023 while playing for the Mumbai Indians. He was acquired by the Kings and has shown promise in the first few games, despite not being kept by his previous team.
Nehal Wadhera talked about his preparation for the season and expressed his excitement about playing for his “home team,” the Punjab Kings.
The 24-year-old also discussed the contributions made by head coach Ricky Ponting and PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer.
I’ve joined the Punjab Kings this season, and I’m eager to play for my native team. For any athlete, representing their home team is a unique experience. I was genuinely emotional when I was selected by the Punjab Kings, and it felt incredible. This season, I can’t wait to help the Punjab Kings win the trophy. I’ve worked hard to strengthen my areas of weakness throughout the past two IPL seasons, concentrating on the strokes and deliveries that have caused me problems. Wadhera told JioHotstar, “I want to have more success this year and hopefully make this a breakthrough season.”
I thought it was great how Shreyas Iyer connected with each player right away. It’s impressive how confident Shreyas Iyer is. The team’s morale is instantly raised when a captain demonstrates that kind of belief. It was a successful combo if you look at Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting’s past together while they were at DC. And as the legend that he is, Ricky Ponting contributes a great deal. Everything he says makes me feel so good as we work together in the nets. We don’t appear to hear the negatives, so even they don’t register. It’s a blessing to be around him,” Wadhera said.
In three games this season, Wadhera has amassed 114 runs at a strike rate of 156.16 and an average of 57. He hit 62 off 41 in a losing match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), which was his best knock of the tournament.
