For its much awaited forthcoming season, which will be played across five cities in India from November 18 to December 9, 2023, Legends League Cricket (LLC) introduced two new franchises on Tuesday.
Legends League Cricket (LLC) has revealed Urbanrisers Hyderabad as its first franchisee. This team is owned by the prominent Urbanrise Group and managed by Mr. JC Pavan Reddy, managing director of Trident Power Pvt Ltd. The partnership represents a strong synergy between sports and corporate excellence and has an astounding valuation of over $7 Billion.
The Urbanrise/Alliance Group, the biggest real estate developer in South India, has made this tactical choice as part of its broader diversification initiatives, which also include forays into the mining of battery materials, artificial intelligence, and age-reversal technology. Notably, their mining division, “First Lithium,” recently debuted on the Australian Stock Exchange, and the company enjoys the financial assistance of top international banks. Mr. JC Pavan Reddy has committed his life to the growth of sports at the grassroots level, and the Urbanrisers Hyderabad team will benefit greatly from his knowledge as the President of the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association.
The Southern Super Stars have been named the second franchisee for Legends League Cricket’s upcoming season. The franchise has been purchased by a group of cricket fans from a variety of backgrounds, including manufacturing, IT, energy, real estate, hospitality, and media, with a collective net worth above $2 billion.
This business is run by KLO Sports, which Sanjay Jupudi and Srinadh Chitoori co-founded. Together with them, Ranjeeth Rathod and Gautam Reddy will play a crucial role in the project and use their vision and knowledge to guide the Southern Super Stars to success. A seasoned serial entrepreneur named Sanjay Jupudi founded the US-based IT business Qentelli, which serves illustrious Fortune 500 clientele.
Srinadh Chitoori, a third-generation businessman from Vizag, with a varied clientele that includes the automotive, building, and real estate industries. Another businessman with extensive experience in real estate, hospitality, and investments, Ranjeeth Rathod, brings savvy management abilities to the firm. The team’s managerial skills will be strengthened with the addition of Gautam Reddy, a first-generation clean energy entrepreneur with roots in Chennai who has also launched businesses in the chemical, textile, real estate, food and beverage, and other sectors.
As India’s Amritkal has arrived, Indians are demonstrating a keen interest in sports. The Indian contingent winning 107 medals at the recently concluded Asian Games is an excellent testament for growing enthusiasm and investments into sports in India, according to Mr. Manoj Namburu, Chairman & MD of Urbanrise and Alliance Group. In India, cricket is viewed as a religion and is highly regarded. We have a terrific starting point in the Legends League Cricket franchise as we enter the sports industry. The top cricket players in the world are represented by the league’s stars. We are overjoyed to be a part of Legends League Cricket and think this would be a fantastic addition to our company’s portfolio.
Regarding the purchase of the Southern Super Stars, Sanjay Jupudi, Co-Founder of KLO Sports, said, “We are blessed to have this opportunity to be able to applaud outstanding cricketers who have been idols. We’re glad to get the chance, and we’ll do our best to keep giving Indian and international cricket fans our beloved players in a thrilling format they’ll love and appreciate. The Legends League cricket brings everything together with thrilling competition.
“I’m filled with joy as we welcome these two powerhouses of the Indian Industry into the Legends League Cricket family,” said Vivek Khushalani, founder and chairman of the Legends League Cricket. Their involvement in the forthcoming season will enrich our league, and I am convinced that we will benefit all parties involved.
Their dedication to the sport is in line with our intention to found an LLC in the masters sector, and we are anticipating a fruitful partnership.
“We started Legends League Cricket on a promise to entertain the audience with exciting matches featuring their favorite legends,” said Raman Raheja, Co-Founder & CEO of the league. We have provided a chance for our supporters to relive those on-field memories. After Franchise Season 1 was a success, LLC has already secured two major corporations as franchises. We are excited to provide value for all of the franchises and to develop a very solid business case with LLC.
Legends League Cricket has expanded its franchisee portfolio with the acquisition of these two new franchise partners. GMR Sports, which also shares ownership of the IPL club Delhi Capitals, owns the defending champions, the India Capitals. Adani Sportline, who also owns the Gujarat Giants squad in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), owns the Gujarat Giants team. The LNJ Bhilwara Group is the owner of Bhilwara Kings, and the Manipal Education and Medical Group is the owner of Manipal Tigers.
The second season of Legends League Cricket is expected to be even more exciting than the first one, which was a tremendous success. Fans may excitedly anticipate a cricketing extravaganza unlike any other with a total of 19 riveting matches scheduled. With a player pool of more than 200, the franchisee season would be played in five Indian cities: Ranchi, Dehradun, Jammu, Vizag, and Surat.
