The Test team for New Zealand forthcoming tour to Bangladesh, which is scheduled to start later in November, has been revealed. Their new World Test Championship cycle began on this tour. Test matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand are scheduled to take place at Sylhet and Dhaka. Tim Southee, an experienced cricketer from New Zealand, will be leading the 15-man team.
With a focus on spin, the Black Caps have revealed their Test team for this month’s two-match series in Bangladesh. Notably, Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi take over as the main spinners, while Kyle Jamieson, Rachin Ravindra, and Mitchell Santner return. The team makeup has been changed in preparation for spin-friendly conditions. As all-rounders, Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra augment the spin arsenal even more.
Tim Southee, the team’s captain, will lead the pace brigade while Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson, who is back, provide support. After a successful recovery from back surgery in February, Jamieson made a comeback. Being the fastest Kiwi to take 50 Test wickets in just nine matches, the 28-year-old pacer has an amazing record of 72 wickets at an outstanding average of 19 over just 16 Test matches.
We believe the following team is capable of competing and winning in Bangladesh: Sam Wells
In the meantime, New Zealand, captained by Lockie Ferguson, won 2-1 in their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in anticipation of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Their first trip to Bangladesh since 2007 coincided with this. For the first time in ten years, New Zealand will now play a Test series on Bangladeshi soil. They drew 0-0 in their most recent Test matchup with the Tigers as whites. That was in 2013. Selector Sam Wells of New Zealand said,
“We believe the team we have chosen is capable of competing and winning in Bangladesh. We have an excellent spin group with Ajaz, Ish, Mitch, Glenn, and Rachin that will provide good diversity and possibilities for the duration of the series. According to nzc.nz’s quote from Kiwis selector Sam Wells, “Mitch had a strong back half of the Plunket Shield campaign last summer and has made good strides in his red-ball bowling.”
“Rachin brings a left-arm orthodox option and has improved considerably with the ball over the past 18 months – his performances with the bat at the World Cup speak for themselves,” the speaker continued. After a stint away from the squad, it’s nice to be able to enlist Kyle’s talents once more. He will provide a new dimension to the pace group, the player continued.
