New Zealand wrapped up the three-match ODI series with a 3-0 whitewash of West Indies by winning the match at the Seddon Park in Hamilton by four wickets and 117 balls to spare. With this, the Kiwis completed the white-ball leg, winning both the T20Is and the One-Dayers.
Speaking of the final ODI, opting to bat first, the tourists lost three wickets inside the powerplay. Skipper Shai Hope’s dismissal for 16 off 18 led to a middle order meltdown, as the tourists got reduced to 95/7 at the end of 19 overs. The Kiwis started off cautiously as compared to the rate at which West Indies batted in their first 10 overs. With Will Young (3 off 11) getting dismissed in the 11th over, it seemed as if New Zealand would be in a spot of bother if they lost more wickets. Bracewell joined Mark Chapman in the middle following the dismissal of Tom Latham.
Although Chapman could not stay unbeaten till the end, he ensured that his brisk 48-ball 75-run stand with Bracewell brought his team within touching distance of victory. The new-ball pair of Matthew Forde and Jayden Seales picked up two wickets apiece, but their effort was not enough.

Chapman came in at a time when New Zealand had lost two relatively early wickets. Soon after his arrival, Will Young, too, had made his way back to the hut. However, the fall of wickets and the challenge of the opposition bowlers did not prevent him from playing his natural game. He was not afraid of counter-attacking on instances and rotating the strike too, quickly amassing 64 off just 63 balls with eight boundaries and a couple of maximums as well.

With the white-ball leg coming to an end, the series will move to Test cricket now. The two teams will take on each other in the first Test of the three-match series at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch from December 2.
