India and New Zealand have advanced to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 finals by defeating Australia and South Africa in their respective semi-finals. The two teams will now face one other on Sunday, March 9 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, where the victor of the final will take home the coveted trophy.
The bulk of the numerous experts who have voiced their opinions about which team has a stronger advantage in the competition have supported the Indian team. But in contrast to popular opinion, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer thinks New Zealand would win the final and have the advantage in the exciting match.
“India easily defeated New Zealand in the tournament earlier, but I don’t think it will be as simple this time around. New Zealand would be a bit more equipped. Because they have already played in Dubai, they will also be accustomed to the circumstances,” he stated on cricketer Basit Ali’s YouTube channel.
He was particularly impressed by New Zealand’s potent spin attacks and their well-rounded bowling outfit.
In the match against India in the group round, the Kiwi captain Santner bowled especially good, dismissing KL Rahul and ended with 10-1-41-1. Jaffer believes that the finalists have benefited much from his leadership and ball-handling skills.

With a convincing semi-final win over the Proteas in Lahore, the New Zealanders will go into the final with confidence.
