The leadership of captain Pat Cummins was discussed by all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy prior to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) April 3 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Kolkata. He is a cool-headed skipper who effectively handles pressure, giving the team confidence and reaffirming their conviction in making comebacks, according to the Andhra cricket player.
After his outstanding 2024 season with SRH, in which he was named the Emerging Player of the Season and helped the team get to the championships, Reddy gained prominence. Reddy’s cross-departmental excellency was acknowledged, and he was shortly called up to India. The player who was born in Visakhapatnam attributed his development to the Sunrisers captain, who helped mould him into the player he is today.
He is a very cool and serene leader. He manages pressure in an amazing way. The squad as a whole gains confidence when you witness your captain handling things so well. We are encouraged to think that we can always bounce back by his poise. I really enjoy playing under his leadership, and he is an excellent captain,” he stated via JioStar.
In a competition like the Indian Premier League, the young player explained how he has adjusted to bowlers, saying that the batter now studies them in the same way that they study his game. The middle-order batter adapts to conditions as they arise, but his strategy stays constant. The cricketer from Andhra Pradesh found it especially difficult to play against Kagiso Rabada on Punjab’s home pitch during the previous season.
“I suppose that my comprehension of the bowling has improved. I examine their game as they examine mine. I will continue to take the same strategy, but I will adjust as necessary. Although I didn’t play the first four games last year, I found Kagiso Rabada to be especially difficult when I did. Reddy remarked, “It was a tough challenge for me to face the toughest bowler in the IPL because he was very expressive on that wicket when we played against Punjab.”
Anticipating playing against elite bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah: Nitish Kumar Reddy
As one of the world’s top bowlers, the 21-year-old acknowledged his excitement about taking on Jasprit Bumrah. To score runs against the Indian pace leader would be a thrill for the right-arm pacer, who views it as an intriguing task. The medium bowler thinks it’s exciting to play against bowling greats like Bumrah.
“The challenge would be greatly appreciated. Currently ranked among the world’s top bowlers, it would be a thrilling matchup to take on him. Getting some runs against him would make me very happy. The game is thrilling when you’re playing against elite bowlers like Bumrah,” he said.
I don’t make personal objectives.
The 21-year-old claimed that even when he is playing for India or in the IPL, he does not have any personal objectives. Since it’s still unresolved, the SRH bowler’s main priority is winning the title. Even though SRH broke records, the all-rounder stressed that winning a second IPL crown is their ultimate goal.
Even during my time playing for India and in the IPL last year, I must admit that I never established personal goals. The trophy lifting is the last task left to complete. The cricket player continued, “We set some records that made history, but our ultimate objective is to win the IPL title and add a second star to SRH’s legacy.”
