Nitish Kumar Reddy, an Indian all-rounder, is in legal difficulties after his former agent filed a petition against him for almost INR 5 crore in unpaid dues.
According to sources familiar with the case, Reddy’s association with his old agency, Square The One, ended during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Following this, the player signed with the manager of another Indian cricketer who took part in the tour.
Square The One Private Limited, a player management agency, has filed a case under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging a breach of the management agreement and failure to pay dues. The matter is due to be heard by the Delhi High Court on July 28.
The petition requests the appointment of an independent arbitrator to resolve issues arising from the player’s claimed wrongful breach of contract and unpaid payments.
According to sources close to Reddy, Square The One has represented him since 2021, prior to his rise to stardom in the Indian Premier League. Throughout their four-year relationship, the firm helped the cricketer secure numerous brand sponsorships and commercial collaborations.
“Ninety percent of such disagreements are addressed privately, rather than in court. However, in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed to have secured the deals himself, according to a source quoted by India Today.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has struggled since his stunning Test debut in the BGT.
His performance with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 season was dismal. Despite being injured during the IPL, he competed in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and increased his bowling workload ahead of the Test series against England.
He made 45 runs and took three wickets in two matches. However, after playing in the Birmingham and Lord’s Tests, he sustained a significant knee injury that sidelined him for the duration of the season.
