Former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra, praised Chennai Super Kings’ acquisition of Noor Ahmad for the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Noor has been one of the few standout performers for a faltering CSK outfit this season.
He praised CSK and their relentless resolve to rope Noor into their system despite Gujarat Titans being involved in a heated bidding battle in the mega auction ahead of the current season.
“When you look at the auction, CSK may have got a few things wrong, but one thing they got absolutely spot on was Noor Ahmad. There was a bit of a bidding battle with Gujarat Titans – GT even tried to RTM him – but CSK were determined. They were ready to spend big because they really wanted Noor. I remember his first game, it was against Mumbai, where he picked up three or four wickets and helped CSK win,” shared Chopra while speaking on JioHotstar.
Loyalty is one aspect of CSK that never changes: Aakash Chopra
The well-known analyst noted that he believed Noor was one of those players that would ultimately have the team’s support for a very long period.
Since then, he has claimed four more wickets. You will see ups and downs during a 14-game season, but Noor seems to be a long-term player. With CSK, loyalty is something that never varies; if they believe a player can lead the team, they will continue to support him. “Noor is undoubtedly one of those players,” Chopra continued.
Noor has scalped 20 wickets for the franchise in his first season. With an economy rate of 8.02 in the 12 games he has played so far, Noor has being one of the most reliable bowlers for CSK whenever the need of a breakthrough arises. Noor was aquired by CSK for INR 10 crore during the two-day auction in Jeddah last year.
