The Northern Warriors rebounded well with a 6-wicket victory over the Deccan Gladiators in the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10, chasing down 88 with 10 balls remaining. After only one win in their first three games, the Warriors needed a boost, and their starting lineup delivered.
Batting first, the Gladiators were surprised when Trent Boult dismissed Nicholas Pooran and David Wiese on consecutive deliveries. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (58 off 31) stepped up to steady the innings, hitting seven boundaries and two sixes to bring the score to 40/2 after four overs. Just as Marcus Stoinis appeared to be joining him, Boult interfered again, this time with a sharp one-handed catch off Shahid Bhutta, sending Stoinis back and disrupting momentum.
Kohler-Cadmore continued to hit boundaries, but wickets fell at the other end, with Andre Russell, Laurie Evans, and Jordan Thompson all going cheaply. Kohler-Cadmore hit two sixes in the penultimate over to bring up a fighting half-century before withdrawing, leaving the Gladiators on 87/7.
Chasing 88, the Warriors jumped out of the blocks with Johnson Charles (41 off 17), who hit four fours and three sixes to propel them to 43/0 in just two overs. His dismissal off Noor Ahmad’s ball in the fourth over delayed the innings, and Muhammad Jawadullah’s double strike, which removed Hazratullah Zazai and Shimron Hetmyer, brought the match to 60/3 after five overs.
Noor Ahmad then bowled Dinesh Chandimal, but the Northern Warriors remained within reach of the small mark.
Thisara Perera kept the innings going until Azmatullah Omarzai finished it off, smashing a boundary off Andre Russell and another off Marcus Stoinis to seal the triumph in 8.2 overs and inflict the reigning champions a straight defeat.
Salt and David light up Bulls’ powerplay before Amir sparks Qavalry comeback
UAE Bulls lost Tom Moores in the first over when Mohammad Amir struck immediately, but Phil Salt (31 off 15) countered by launching him for a six and driving the Bulls to 26/1 after two overs. Rovman Powell (23 off 14) joined the momentum with a four and a six in the fifth over, taking the side past fifty before falling to Khuzaima Tanveer.
Tim David (31 off 11) then lifted the innings further, smashing three fours and a six, while Salt fell to a mistimed shot taken by Abbas Afridi. At 93/3 after seven overs, the Bulls looked set for a big total, but Amir flipped the script. He trapped Kieron Pollard lbw, removed Tim David, and later dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed to complete a pivotal four-wicket haul.
With runs drying up, Tanveer closed out the innings with two run-outs and a clean bowled, restricting the Bulls to 109.
