Pakistan will host Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in their first T20I series, which will begin on November 17 with the opening match between Pakistan and Afghanistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The Lankans will then face Afghanistan at the same location on November 19, before moving on to Lahore for the remainder of the tri-series, including the final on November 29.
Sumair Ahmed Syed, Chief Operating Officer of the PCB, expressed delight for the historic event, describing it as “excellent preparation” for the T20 World Cup in 2026. He also referenced the Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier as examples of Pakistan’s ability to host major cricket events.
“We look forward to hosting Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for Pakistan’s maiden T20I tri-series. This event will not only offer excellent preparation for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, but also present fans with exciting cricket across venues. Earlier this year, the PCB successfully delivered the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier. These achievements underline our capacity and readiness to host back-to-back international events at the highest level,” Syed was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
