A two-game Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies is scheduled. Beginning on January 17, the two teams will square off at Multan Cricket Stadium. In addition, Multan will host the series’ second Test starting on January 25. Prior to the crucial series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took the initiative and devised a strategy to hire a new spin bowling coach.
Ahead of the two-Test series, former Test cricket player Abdur Rehman will join the coaching staff.
It should be noted that although Rehman has coaching expertise, this will be his first position at the national level.
Rehman’s experience in the department may prove beneficial to the hosts in the forthcoming series, since the surface in Multan is known for helping the spinners. Rehman’s task would also not be simple given Pakistan’s recent performance in the longest format.
Pakistan may, however, benefit from playing at home, and they will be looking to defeat the Caribbean team quickly in Multan.
Pakistan intends to concentrate on the 2025 Champions Trophy as well.
Immediately following the West Indies series, Pakistan will prepare for the most recent Champions Trophy 2025. In the main event, the Men in Green, who are hosting the tournament alongside the UAE, will try to give it their all.
It’s important to remember that Pakistan will play New Zealand in the opening match of the campaign. On February 19, the National Stadium in Karachi will host the match between the two teams. Following disappointing results in the T20 World Cup 2024, the ODI World Cup 2023, and the longest format, Pakistan has had a forgettable few months. But they’ll be hoping to make amends by winning the Champions Trophy.
