The Pakistan Champions have refused to share points with their archrivals, the India Champions, after their scheduled match was cancelled due to Indian players withdrawing from the game. The Indian players opted out due to deteriorating relations with their neighbour.
According to World Championship of Legends (WCL) sources on Monday, the event organisers told the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that the match could not be held owing to reasons beyond the Indian team’s control, and that they bear no responsibility.
“WCL informed the England and Wales Cricket Board that as organisers, they were unable to hold this match. The India Champions Team is not at fault. WCL sources, as quoted by NDTV Sports, stated that Pakistan’s Champions team is unwilling to exchange points since they claim that India, not them, backed out.
Several Indian players, including Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, also announced that they will not play in the India-Pakistan match.
According to sources, additional members of the Indian squad have taken a similar attitude, resulting in the match’s cancellation.
“Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi kaise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch na hota. (I stand by the decision I made on May 11. “My country is everything to me, and nothing is bigger than the country,” Dhawan remarked on X.
Currently, the Pakistan Champions lead the WCL 2025 points table with three points,
While the India Champions are fourth with one. In the previous edition of the competition, the India Champions defeated the Pakistan Champions by five wickets in the final.
Meanwhile, India Champions will play South Africa Champions on July 22 in Northampton, while Pakistan Champions will meet South Africa Champions on July 25.
