The players’ draft for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will take place in the coastal city of Gwadar, which is in the province of Balochistan, on January 11, according to a recent announcement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Interestingly, the PCB has also thought about possible locations in Dubai and England.
Mohsin Naqvi, the board chairman, went centre stage and delivered the announcement. But the specifics of the location and the event’s schedule will be made public eventually. It is important to note that Gwadar has one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the nation; nevertheless, no games have been played there as of yet because of attacks on nearby security stations.
Additionally, Mohsin Naqvi discussed the location and how Gwadar will bring cricket closer to the Baloch people.
With its breathtaking coastline and strategic significance, Gwadar is the focal point of Pakistan’s economic future. India Today cited Naqvi as saying,
“We hope to celebrate the unity cricket brings to our country and highlight its cultural and economic significance by hosting the PSL player draft here.”
“I look forward to welcoming all the franchises and relevant stakeholders to the beautiful city of Gwadar as we take an exciting step towards marking the start of the 10th edition of Pakistan’s biggest sporting extravaganza,” he stated.
In addition, the PCB recently revealed the list of Pakistani players who qualified for the platinum division. Yet, the board has not yet made public the final list of foreign players.
