India captain Rohit Sharma praised the Men in Green and said that they are a quality squad and have been consistent in recent times, which has helped them become the top-ranked ODI team in the world, before taking on Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Notably, the Babar Azam-led team blasted Nepal to win the match by 238 runs and with that, they edged closer to the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup.
Iftikhar Ahmed scored his first ODI century, while Babar, the captain, scored 151 runs. India does not disregard Pakistan, as Rohit Sharma noted that defeating them on September 2 at Pallekele would be extremely challenging.
Pakistan has a top-notch team. Over the past few years, they have excelled. They have performed well, whether it be in bilateral series or the T20 World Cup. They are ranked as the best squad in one-day internationals for a reason. There has been a lot of effort put into it. They must have put in a lot of effort to get where they are, and the team seems to be very cohesive. They are in good shape; therefore, it will be difficult for us to complete the task.
But we have done our homework. We’ve made progress in a few areas. In the game, hopefully, we will be able to use the strategies we have planned, Rohit said during the pre-game news conference.

When facing Pakistani pacers, we will need to draw on our experience. Rohit Sharma
Pakistan’s speed trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah has recently caused India a lot of trouble. Rohit addressed the problem and said that the Indian batsmen will need to use their expertise to deal with it. He eventually praised the group but was prepared to confront them.
“They’re all excellent bowlers, all three of them. They had been prospering for a while. So you see, Pakistan has always had good bowlers. Now that we’ve seen them a lot, we know their strengths, the areas in which they excel, and other things of the sort. We will therefore have to use our experience to move forward. That’s all there is to it,” Rohit said.
