Pakistan refuse Bangladesh’s invite for T20I tri-series in December

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declined the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s invitation for a T20 tri-series set to take place in December, citing player workload as the key cause. Sri Lanka was scheduled to play in the proposed T20I tri-series alongside Bangladesh and Pakistan.

It is anticipated that major national players including Pakistan Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi would have been unavailable for the tri-series. This is due to their other obligation to play in the Big Bash League.

According to Pakistan Observer, there were earlier reports that former West Indies fast bowler Reon King, who is a member of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees, will also act as a match referee for the T20I series.

Pakistan, who are currently playing an ODI series against Sri Lanka at home, will next welcome the Lankans and Zimbabwe in a 20-over tri-series beginning on November 17. Except for the first two of matches, which are scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi, the remainder of the tournament, including the finals, will be played in Lahore.

They are coming off an all-format series with the Proteas. The Test series ended 1-1, although the Men in Green won both the ODIs and T20Is 2-1. Shaheen led Pakistan to a decisive victory in the ODI series, his first assignment since being named full-time captain.
