[WATCH] Pakistan Under-19 batter involved in bizarre run-out to hand England 37-run win, video goes viral
In the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, England U-19 registered a 37-run victory, as they bundled Pakistan U-19 out for just 173, despite setting a low-key target of 211.

What made the win interesting was the final wicket, where Ali Raza was involved in a brain fade moment and failed to make his ground before the wicketkeeper collected the ball with ease and dislodged the bails to bring the curtains down to the game.

The moment took place during the third ball of the 47th over, when Manny Lumsden came out to bowl his ninth over of the innings. Momin Qadar was the batter on strike, who had pulled the short delivery towards the deep mid-wicket region. Raza, running towards the danger end, allowed the ball to pass instead of completing the run, as Thomas Rew collected a straightforward throw from Ben Mayes and affected the dismissal.

With this, the Men in Green lost by 37 runs, in what was their opening game of the marquee 50-over tournament. The Englishmen, on the other hand, came from behind, and pulled the match back in their favour to gain an emphatic win to commence their campaign at the Under-19 World Cup on a victorious note.

Rew, who is also the captain of the English side, disclosed that the target they set did not seem to be enough initially. He further added that the top effort by their bowlers eventually turned the tables to their advantage. The English skipper also credited the brilliant efforts by the fielders, keeping in mind the low target they were defending.

“We felt we were under par, top effort from the bowlers. The wicket was good but it kept low sometimes. The big thing we were bowling to the stumps. We adapted to the fielding. We took the momentum from the two practice games and good to win the first game,” Rew said at the post-match presentation.
