The Indian team lost the fourth Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. Notably, the series score after three Test matches is 1-1, with India winning the first match, Australia winning the second, and the third match finishing in a draw.
In addition, the Indian squad suffered a significant defeat in the fourth Test of the series. There were a few game situations that became talking points because the match continued into the last session of Day 5. One such instance occurred just following tea on the final day, when star Australian batsman Travis Head was assigned to bowl.
As Australia edged closer to victory, it’s noteworthy to note that captain Pat Cummins’ choice paid off when Head removed Rishabh Pant.
Pat Cummins discussed his reasoning for allowing Head to bowl.
“We thought, ‘Get Trav in there, it might help us with that,’ because we were a little behind on the over rate.” Cummins was cited.
It is rather disheartening: Rohit Sharma
The Indian team was given a goal of 340 runs to pursue in the second innings, but they lost the match and gave the Australians the advantage after being swept out for 155 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma stepped forth to discuss the game and express his disappointment.
“It is very disheartening. We didn’t enter the fight intending to give up the fight. Unfortunately, we were unable to fight to the end, even though we wanted to. Only the latter two sessions will be difficult to evaluate. Looking over the entire Test match, we had opportunities, but we passed them up. Australia scored 90 points for six. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit stated, “We want to play tough cricket from hard situations, even though we know things can get tough.”
