On May 17, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The Men in Red, led by Rajat Paitidar, are presently ranked second in the standings after an outstanding season in which they have won eight of their 11 games thus far.
After Faf du Plessis was let go by the team before the 2025 mega auction, Patidar became the ninth player to captain RCB in the IPL. The standout middle-order batsman has also discussed Virat Kohli’s impact on the squad, bringing up an incident from the “RCB podcast” where Virat gave him the plaque during the unboxing ceremony. Along with praising the famous batter’s wealth of knowledge and ideas that he shares with the team, Patidar also talked about how much he learns from him during net sessions.
When he instructed me to hold the plaque, I was unable to respond. “You earned it, you deserve it,” he remarked as he handed it to me. I therefore felt somewhat at ease. Patidar stated on the RCB podcast, “I mean, when Virat said this to me, I became normal in that situation.”
“I watch Virat Kohli’s batting whenever he hits in the nets.
He teaches me as much as I can. I’m playing for an opportunity as well, and he’s with me now that I’m captain. Thus, I absorb as much knowledge as possible from him (Kohli). “No one else has the same amount of experience and ideas that he does,” the RCB captain continued.
