Robin Uthappa named his favourites to win the IPL 2025 title following the 69th match of the season against the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The 2014 IPL Orange Cap winner stated that he considered RCB and PBKS to be the favourites from the start and maintained his opinion when PBKS qualified for Qualifier 1.
Uthappa believed that PBKS and RCB had momentum and were bowling well lately.
He advocated on behalf of the RCB and stated that Virat Kohli needed to bat long and anchor run chases. The former RCB batsman believed that Virat staying until the end meant he would accelerate in the final overs, putting pressure on the opposition.
“I’ve said it from the beginning: I feel it will be Punjab and RCB. They have momentum on their side and have begun to bowl effectively. They must efficiently close off games, and Virat Kohli must bat through the 20 overs like the chase maestro he is. “When he does that, it puts pressure on the opposition, especially in death overs,” Uthappa told Jiostar.
I’m delighted Josh Hazlewood returned: Robin Uthappa
He believed the RCB bowlers needed to step up, and the return of Josh Hazlewood may benefit Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal. He believed Suyash Sharma needed to be disciplined, unlike his period against SRH. He stated that Krunal has been bowling brilliantly for RCB in the IPL 2025.
“The bowlers should also step up. I’m pleased Josh Hazlewood is back; it will also help Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar). Yash Dayal has been decent in the death overs. Suyash struggled in the past game, but if he returns to his disciplined form at the start of the IPL, he will be productive again. Krunal Pandya has also been bowling brilliantly,” Uthappa said.
RCB will meet Lucknow Super Giants in the 70th and final league stage match of the IPL 2025 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Winning would mean playing Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings, while losing would mean facing MI in the Eliminator.
