The devastating floods in Punjab have left the state reeling from one of the greatest natural disasters in decades. However, the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Punjab Kings (PBKS) has stepped forward to offer assistance, donating INR 33.8 lakh to relief operations.
Punjab has been hit by excessive rainfall and rising water levels in rivers including the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi. The flood was caused by excessive rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, as well as upstream dam releases, and has claimed at least 37 lives so far.
According to government figures, more than 3.5 lakh people have been affected, with over 1,000 villages flooded and nearly 61,000 hectares of crops waterlogged. All 23 districts in the state have been deemed flood-affected, making this one of the most devastating floods Punjab has witnessed since 1988. Notably, over 11,000 people have been evacuated with the assistance of the Indian Army, NDRF, BSF, and local officials.

Meanwhile, PBKS launched its “Together for Punjab” campaign. Partnering with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India, the franchise pledged INR 33.8 lakh to strengthen ongoing relief operations. The funds will be used to procure the inflatable rescue boats vital. These boats will also serve as permanent disaster-response assets for future crises in the state.
“We are devastated to witness the suffering caused by floods across our beloved state and we are joining hands with Hemkunt Foundation and RTI to contribute towards helping all those who are affected. Our efforts will be used in helping the victims across flood-affected regions and strengthen resilience for Sadda Punjab in the hour of need,” PBKS official statement read.

The franchise also announced that the funds would be utilized for distributing clean drinking water, delivering essential supplies, and extending medical aid to affected communities. PBKS is also helping to create a system that will aid Punjab in dealing with such emergencies going forward.
Apart from its direct financial aid, Punjab Kings has launched a fundraising campaign on Ketto, looking to collect INR 2 crore. The collected funds will be directed to The Global Sikh Charity, which has been actively involved in supporting flood-hit communities and rebuilding efforts in Punjab.
