IPL 2025: PBKS vs DC, Match 66: Stats Review of player records and achieved milestones

The Delhi Capitals (DC) ended a season of what may have been with a shocking victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Jaipur in IPL 2025 Match No. 66.

This outcome has created breathing room for the remaining three playoff-qualified teams to finish in the top two on the points table. The Delhi Capitals’ plan to bowl first appeared to pay off when Mustafizur Rahman (3/33) dismissed Priyansh Arya early. Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis made crucial starts, but DC responded in the middle overs with Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam.

Shreyas Iyer (53 off 34) battled valiantly until his dismissal got the Capitals back into the contest. Rahman took crucial wickets at the finish, but Punjab crossed the 200-run barrier mostly thanks to Marcus Stoinis (44* off 16). Stoinis surged into the bowlers left and right, decisively turning a difficult entry point in PBKS’ benefit.

At first glance, DC’s chase did not appear to be very noteworthy.

KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis both had starts but were out within seven balls of each other. Sediqullah Atal, making his IPL debut, delivered a one-hit wonder, but Karun Nair (44 off 27) and Sameer Rizvi (58* off 25) stole the show. The two brilliantly nullified Harpreet Brar’s threat in the middle overs and utterly destroyed spin. With each passing over, the two were getting closer to the target.

After Nair was removed by Brar (2/41), Rizvi took the stage, hitting brilliantly timed boundaries at vital moments to send DC home in the final over for a consolation win in their final match of the season.

Here are the most important numbers from the game:

4 – Marcus Stoinis became the fourth Australian batter to hit 100 IPL sixes. Stoinis finished this game with 102 sixes. The top three are David Warner (236), Shane Watson (190) & Glenn Maxwell (161).

1 – Punjab Kings managed to cross the 200-run barrier for the seventh time in this IPL season – the joint-most times a team has made 200 or more in one season. The only other team to make seven 200-plus totals in one IPL season is the Gujarat Titans, also in 2025.

3 – Delhi Capitals pulled off their third successful chase of a target of 200 or more in the IPL. The target of 207 overhauled by them today is also the third highest they have ever shot down. Capitals chased down 209 against the Gujarat Lions in 2017, while their highest successful chase, 210, came against the Lucknow Super Giants earlier this year.

5 – The target of 207 that they failed to defend is the fifth-highest successful chase conceded by PBKS in the IPL. The top spot goes to an earlier game from this year when SRH gunned down 246 against the Kings in Hyderabad.

1 – Punjab Kings have now been on the receiving end of the most successful chases of 200-plus targets in the IPL. This game was the seventh time that 200 or more had been successfully chased against PBKS in the IPL. RCB are second with six such unsuccessful defences.

PBKS now hold the record for both the most successful chases and the most unsuccessful defences of targets of 200 or more in the IPL. The corresponding number in both cases is seven.

1 – Shreyas Iyer has now led his team in an unsuccessful defence of 200-plus targets four times in the IPL. No other skipper has been on the bowling side more often. The second spot is shared by MS Dhoni, Faf du Plessis and Shubman Gill with three each.

3 – DC’s chase of 207 is the third-highest successful chase at Jaipur in the IPL. The top spot is taken by SRH’s successful chase of 215 against RR in 2023, while in second place is RR’s crackdown of 210 against GT earlier this year. Those three are also the only instances of 200-plus totals being successfully chased in Jaipur.

2 – While the record for most 200-plus totals in a season has already been broken in 2025, this season is still inching closer to the record for the most 200-plus targets successfully chased in an IPL season. This match was the seventh successful chase of 200 or more in IPL 2025. The season record of eight is with 2023, while the six successful chases in 2024 are now third.
