Gaddafi Stadium’s majestic makeover ahead of tournaments
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has had a magnificent renovation in preparation for the 2025 Champions Trophy and Pakistan Tri-Nation Series. In advance of the multi-team white-ball competitions in February and March 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) published a little video showing the stadium illuminated in all its splendor.
Reports question PCB’s readiness for ICC Tournaments
The Pakistan Cricket Board may find it “absolutely impossible” to have the stadiums ready for the ICC event in time, according to rumors that surfaced a few days prior. There were also concerns about the country’s preparedness for what was to happen, according to a Dawn report.
The Dawn had written, “The staff assigned to the renovation project are beaming with confidence, but it seems absolutely impossible to contemplate the renovation work being completed within the deadline.”

Pakistan Cricket Board faces pressure to meet renovation deadline
The administrative body has spent a significant amount of money (PKR 12 billion) renovating the venues for those who are not familiar with them. The board appears to be under a lot of strain, though, as the January 31 deadline for finishing the renovations looms large.
Heavy investment for a World-Class cricket experience
“Look, the stadiums will be in a shape to host matches but the question is the PCB has promised everyone a world-class experience at these renovated venues for the Tri-Series and the Champions Trophy and whether they can deliver on that promise remains to be seen,” said a source familiar with the construction process.
Tickets for Tri-Nation series & Champions Trophy already on sale
Tickets for the games that will take place at the venues are now available for purchase. This is thought to have raised concerns until the PCB formally declares that it owns all of the recently remodeled stadiums.
