The Gujarat Giants’ standout hitter in the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025), Phoebe Litchfield, praised skipper Ashleigh Gardner and the team’s bowlers following their thrilling WPL win.
Litchfield concentrated on the bowling unit’s game-winning force and Gardner’s exceptional all-around play. Ashleigh Gardner, renowned for her devastating batting and all-around abilities, was a key contributor to the Gujarat Giants’ triumph. Furthermore, she praised her ability to lead the team from the front in spite of extreme pressure.
“She is fantastic. Batting next to her is like being at home. She can change the course of a match with her devastating batting, and she is incredibly cool and collected at the wicket. She hit the leg-spinner with a great huge over, which helped us get back to a run-a-ball pace.
“It was just about finishing the chase after that,” Phoebe Litchfield said to JioHotstar in reference to her performance in the current Women’s T20 cricket carnival.
Our team greatly benefits from her abilities to bat explosively, bowl well, and captain. “We are so happy to have her on our side,” she continued.
The Gujarat Giants win a much-needed game.
Although the hitters made sure that the victory went smoothly, the Gujarat Giants’ complete bowling unit took care of the base for their victory. Litchfield praised the bowlers for establishing the tone early on, particularly during the powerplay. Pacer Kashvee Gautam and all-rounder Deandra Dottin were highly praised by Litchfield for their significant contributions with the ball.
“Today’s bowlers were exceptional. Without a doubt, they won the match. When you take three wickets during the powerplay, the opposition is immediately put under pressure. In the last two games, we’ve been in that position ourselves, so we know how hard it is to bounce back,” she added.
“Kashvee and Deandra’s front-row bowling was excellent. Sincerely, I believe Kashvee will be a tremendous talent in the future. As an Australian, I must say that I’m a little afraid! It’s great to have her in the WPL,” Litchfield finally said.
