Preity Zinta, the effervescent co-owner of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), wrote a heartfelt note thanking the players, support staff, and even the fans after the Shreyas Iyer-led side lost the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final by six runs on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Despite failing to pass the last hurdle, PBKS received high appreciation from fans and professionals alike for their outstanding performance throughout the season.
On Friday, June 6, Preity Zinta praised Shreyas’ excellent leadership, which helped PBKS finish first in the table for the first time since 2014.
She also praised the work of other uncapped players on the team. As many as five uncapped players appeared in the IPL 2025 final against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“It didn’t end the way we intended it to, but the ride was amazing! It was thrilling, amusing, and motivating. I admired our youthful team’s tenacity and fighting spirit throughout the tournament. I admired how our captain, Sarpanch, led from the front, and how Indian uncapped players conquered the IPL! This year was unusual. We broke records despite losing key players to injury and national duty, experiencing a tournament stoppage, transferring home games to neighbouring states, and evacuating a stadium! We adapted, led the points table after a decade, and fought till the end in an exhilarating final,” Zinta wrote on her official ‘X’ account.
The famous Bollywood actress also thanked the PBKS supporters for their enthusiastic support and praised the players’ tenacity and desire to deliver outstanding performances in the face of numerous adversities. She also guaranteed the fans that they will return strong in the IPL 2026 and complete what they couldn’t do this year.
“I am extremely proud of all of the @PunjabKingsIPL players for their character throughout the tournament. Thank you to all of them, our support team, and everyone at PBKS for a wonderful season. Most importantly, a heartfelt THANK YOU to our – SHER SQUAD – FANS who supported us through thick and thin. Whatever we are and how far we have come is all because of you. I promise we will return to finish the task because it is currently just halfway done. See you next year at the stadium; until then, take care and stay safe, everyone. I love you all. Ting! Sher Squad | Sadda Punjab,” she explained.
