The Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, June 1. Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab franchise’s skipper and top middle-order batter, is the driving force behind the team’s success. This year, the 30-year-old Champions Trophy winner has proven himself as a leader as well as a batter.

There is no doubt that PBKS fans adore Iyer, but a skipper also requires a lot of support from his players. This was seen in a recent video in which all of the young and emerging PBKS players expressed their opinions on the Mumbai-born player and how his influence has resulted in the team enjoying one of its greatest seasons, allowing them to qualify for the playoffs after 11 years. The video features PBKS’ leading wicket-taker Arshdeep Singh, star opener Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, and Musheer Khan.

“I’ve previously played with Iyer in the Duleep Trophy under his captaincy, and it was a great experience. He always supported his players and allowed them to express themselves. What I’ve noticed here is that his approach remains consistent: he doesn’t impose tight instructions, instead encouraging players to trust their abilities and play for the team. He encourages selflessness and assures the athletes of his complete support. “I truly admire this mindset, and as players, we will do our best to support him,” Arshdeep told Star Sports.

Similarly, Prabhsimran Singh praised the IPL 2024 winning skipper.
