Quinton de Kock, the opener for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), shared his comments on the pitch at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on March 26 following an outstanding batting display against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match No. 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
It was difficult to bat since the pitch favoured the spinners, according to Quinton de Kock.
According to his cricketing style, he smashes the ball where he wants it to go and plays it when it comes. The Proteas cricket player retorted in an IPL video that while every player has an own style of play, everyone ultimately wants to play a decent brand of cricket. After the triumph over RR, the 32-year-old acknowledged his joy and emphasised the importance of playing each ball according to its value.
“You know, there were guys who were good at bowling this wicket, and a lot of cutters, especially the spinners, made it really hard. So you have to play the bowl the way you see it and play the bowl where you want to,” he said.
“Some men are really different; all we want is to play cricket well.” The victory was pretty convincing, and it’s always good to win. To be honest, I was just trying to play the bowl on its merits and standing motionless,” the batsman continued.
With an undefeated 97 off 61 balls and a scorching strike rate of 159.02, which included eight boundaries and six sixes, the KKR opener won Player of the Match in the just finished game.
The reigning champions defeated Rajasthan by eight wickets in the current season under the guidance of the wicketkeeper-batter’s outstanding batting display on Wednesday, opening their account on the points table. Furthermore, the Royals will be hoping to bounce back harder in their upcoming matchup with the Chennai Super Kings after losing both of their previous games.
