R Ashwin, a former Indian cricketer, revealed his Sydney Thunder shirt on social media platform X on Friday, September 26.
His post included the cap on top of the collar, with his jersey number 99 and ‘ASHWIN’ (below the number) visible against a coal black background.
However, the renowned off-spinner’s tweet included a hilarious twist. He purposefully released the new jersey on September 26 rather than the previous day, which was the day of the franchise’s introduction. The description of the post was ‘What colour today at Navratri? 😉’, thereby reminding his fans of Day 5 of Navratri.

For the unversed, the annual festival is a nine-day event which is celebrated with great happiness for those celebrating. The green colour symbolises nature and new beginnings in life. It also evokes a sense of growth, serenity and peace.
Ashwin recently retired from the Indian Premier League in order to explore opportunities in various franchise leagues around the globe. The BBL comes as a refreshing challenge for him as well as his Indian supporters. Ashwin became the first Indian international to have been signed by any franchise of the BBL.
