The second edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) will get off on August 2 at the legendary Arun Jaitley Stadium, setting the stage for a magnificent inauguration. The initial edition opened with a colourful musical concert – a lively blend of sport and song that immediately captivated everyone’s attention and established a new standard for opening ceremonies in numerous cricket tournaments.
The inaugural ceremony promises a night of glamour, music, and high-octane adrenaline, with breathtaking performances by Punjabi musical star Sunanda Sharma, chart-topping rapper Raftaar, lyrical powerhouse KRSNA, and incendiary hip-hop duo Seedhe Maut.
As cricket meets culture under the lights of Delhi, the DPL is gearing up to kick off its new season with a celebration suitable for the capital’s spirit: bright, energetic, and unforgettable.
Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), said, “We are delighted to inaugurate the second edition of the Delhi Premier League, ushering in a new era of excitement, opportunity, and high-quality cricket. This season represents a new beginning—not only for the clubs and players, but also for fans throughout the city and beyond. With new energy, developing talent, and a stronger commitment to promote both men’s and women’s cricket, the DPL promises to be a bigger, bolder, and more engaging experience for everyone involved.”
The opening match of DPL 2025 will set the tone for an exciting season as South Delhi Superstarz face the defending champions, East Delhi Riders, in what promises to be a blockbuster opener. All eyes will be on star players such as Navdeep Saini, Anuj Rawat, Ayush Badoni, and Digvesh Rathi.
The men’s final will take place on August 31, 2025, with September 1, 2025 set aside as a backup date in case of weather delays. The women’s competition will take place from August 17 to August 24, 2025, with a week of entertaining and intense cricket. This season will include eight men’s and four women’s teams, with a focus on competitive balance, emerging talent, and fan participation.
