Head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, Rahul Dravid, insulted millions of cricket fans in the nation on Thursday, November 30, by stating that he has not yet signed his contract renewal with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Notably, on Wednesday, November 29, the BCCI announced the extensions of the contracts for the head coach and support staff. President Roger Binny expressed his happiness that Dravid had accepted the offer to continue leading the team.
But a day later, Dravid was in Delhi for a meeting with Secretary Jay Shah and BCCI Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar to choose India’s squads for the forthcoming tour of South Africa in all three formats. Following the meeting, Rahul Dravid answered a few questions from the media regarding his contract extension and his future as the coach of Team India. The 50-year-old shockingly disclosed, nevertheless, that he hasn’t yet signed an official agreement pertaining to his extension.

Rahul Dravid is expected to stay as head coach until the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Dravid is anticipated to lead India as head coach till the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, according to reports. During the current Twenty20 International series against Australia, in which VVS Laxman is acting as a stand-in head coach, the cricketer from Indore has not been with the team. Dravid will travel to South Africa with the team starting on December 10.
Notably, following the T20 World Cup in 2021, he was named India’s head coach for a two-year term, which concluded with the conclusion of the ODI World Cup in 2023. But after seeing the squad play well under Dravid’s leadership, BCCI extended his contract.
