Rahul Dravid, one of the game’s icons, has never touched the gold in a global championship. While India and Sri Lanka shared the 2002 Champions Trophy title, Dravid has witnessed more suffering in World Cups than anyone else. Under his direction, the Men in Blue were ousted from the competition in the 2007 group stage, while India lost the 2003 ODI World Cup final against Australia.
In 2011, Dravid’s longtime buddy Sachin Tendulkar emerged victorious in the ODI World Cup, which he was unable to qualify for. The renowned cricketer was unable to achieve success in the Indian Premier League after quitting international cricket in 2012. Later in his career, Rahul Dravid turned to coaching and was very successful in that role as the head coach of the U19 Indian team; however, he did not experience the same level of success with the senior team.
India advanced to the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal under his leadership, however they were defeated by England and were unable to advance to the championship match. India was the clear favourite to win the 2023 ODI World Cup, but they ultimately fell to Australia in the championship match.
Rahul Dravid is leaving his position as head coach of the Indian team, hence this T20 World Cup 2024 is his final competition with the senior team.
In light of this, former cricketer Virender Sehwag said that the present Indian team had to urge everyone to win the trophy in Dravid’s name. Sehwag believes that he is one of the best players India has ever produced, and he wants the team captained by Rohit Sharma to succeed so he may earn the title of world champion.

“We participated at the 2011 World Cup on Sachin Tendulkar’s behalf. Thus, Rahul Dravid could be playing in this T20 World Cup. Sehwag told Cricbuzz that at least as a coach he gets to win the World Cup and receive the World Cup winner’s badge, something he didn’t receive as a player.
In the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024, India will take on England in Guyana. The victor of the match will play South Africa in the tournament final on June 29 in Barbados.
