Defending winners In the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Gujarat Titans have continued to excel. Having won the championship in 2022, Gujarat presently leads the IPL points table with 16 points after 11 games. Gujarat would be eager to secure a position as soon as possible, as they are only one win away from qualifying for the playoffs again.
Rahul Tewatia’s performances have been a major contributor to Gujarat’s success in the IPL in 2023. The 29-year-old has matured into the ideal scorer for the reigning champions. Recently, he came forward and credited Titans’ captain Hardik Pandya for his success, disclosing that Pandya had gifted him a couple of match bats.
“He has given me two match bats this season. One day, he brought new bats and asked me to inspect them. I informed him that they were match-ready, and he told me to keep them. These are the shafts I’ve used so far this season, according to Rahul Tewatia on ESPNcricinfo.
“Last season, after seven or eight matches, he told me, ‘It’s good to see that you’re completing matches for us consistently.’ Whenever we were in a difficult situation, he would say, “Oh, I know Tewu will get the job done for us.” What else do you need when the commander has such faith in you?” he continued.
On Friday, May 12, the Gujarat Titans will travel to Mumbai to face the five-time champion Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in the 57th game of the tournament. Mumbai have been in fine form of late, and with their middle order on fire, the Rohit Sharma-led squad will seek to extend its winning streak.
