Afghanistan has picked its 20-man roster for the forthcoming Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, with star cricketer Rashid Khan leading the charge. Afghanistan’s most seasoned all-rounder, Mohammad Nabi, is also on the roster, while Gulbadin Naib, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Ibrahim Zadran have joined the 20-member squad.
Rashid will lead the spin department, which includes Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, and AM Ghazanfar. On the other hand, the pace department has firepower in the form of Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen Ul Haq. Meanwhile, Darwish Rasooli, Sediqullah Atal, and Fareed Ahmad have all clinched their places on the team.
“Prior to the Asia Cup, AfghanAtalan will also face the hosts UAE and Pakistan in a T20I Tri-Nation Series, beginning this Friday in Sharjah, featuring the majority of the 22-member preliminary squad previously announced by the ACB,” the board said in a statement on their official social media handle on Sunday, August 24.
Following the end of the tri-series, Rashid Khan’s squad will aim to win their first continental crown. They are in Group B and will face teams from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong. If they finish in the top two in their group at the end of league stage games, they will advance to the Super Fours.
