Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s best spin bowler, won’t be able to play in the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka because he hurt his lower back. The star player who won the match is likely to play in the third and final ODI on June 7 in Hambantota.
The three-match One-Day International (ODI) series will start on June 2, with the first match in Hambantota. On Sunday, June 4, the same place will host the second ODI. Afghanistan will go to Bangladesh to play a one-off Test in Chattanooga after the ODI series against Sri Lanka is over.
Rashid’s illness means that Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and the young spin star Noor Ahmad will have to do more spin bowling. Hashmatullah Shahidi will be in charge of the group. In a release, the Afghanistan Cricket Board also said what was going on with Rashid’s injury. “He will stay in the hospital and get full medical care. He is expected to be back for the last ODI on June 7.”
Rashid Khan will start his national duties after a good IPL in 2023.’
With the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans, Rashid had a fantastic Indian Premier League 2023 season. The Titans came into the season as the reigning champions and made it all the way to the final match before losing to the Chennai Super Kings in a nail-biting last-ball finish in the final match on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Titans’ wrist spinner, who was 24 years old, led the spin attack and took 27 wickets in 17 games at an economy rate of 8.24. At the end of the season, he and another partner, Mohit Sharma, were tied for the second-most wickets taken.
Rashid had a lot of good games in the IPL 2023, and he also scored the only hat-trick of the tournament. He did this against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in match number 13 when, as usual, captain Hardik Pandya wasn’t there.
