The Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 45 on Sunday, April 27 at the Wankhede Stadium to record their fifth straight IPL 2025 triumph. While LSG was unable to chase the mark and ended up falling 54 runs short, MI scored a dominant 215 runs in the first innings.
After taking four wickets in the 18th over of the contest, Jasprit Bumrah came to bowl his final over in an attempt to take his fifth wicket. Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi, a lower-order pair, were at the crease. Ravi Bishnoi hit the ace pacer for a six in the long-on area on the final ball of his stint.
A maximum was achieved when the right-handed hitter smacked a length ball that Bumrah bowled into the stands. Bishnoi was ecstatic after hitting the ball for a six and responded by pumping his fists fiercely while glaring at the Ahmedabad native. Zaheer Khan and LSG captain Rishabh Pant were giggling at the batter for his vivacious celebration in the dugout.

Speaking of the game, MI batsmen destroyed the LSG bowlers throughout the field in the opening inning after pitching. Suryakumar Yadav scored 54 off 28 runs in the middle overs of the contest, while Ryan Rickelton, the MI starter, hammered 58 runs off 32 balls. MI set a massive goal on the scoreboard at the end of the innings thanks to some fast runs from Corbin Bosch (20* off 10) and Naman Dhir (25* off 11).
Every bowler for LSG reached at least 40 runs throughout their four-over stint. During their time, Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan took two wickets. None of their hitters remained in the middle for an extended period of time during the chase, and they all frequently lost wickets. The top score for the visitors in the match on Sunday was 35 runs off 22 balls, which was achieved by Ayush Badoni.
In his appearance with the ball, Bumrah took four wickets for MI’s bowling department, including three in the third over of his performance. MI won the match as LSG was knocked out for 161 runs, moving them up to second place on the IPL 2025 Points Table.
