In the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, the Indian team is prepared to play Australia. The second Test match of the series will begin on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval between the two teams. Note that the Adelaide Test will be played with pink balls, and the team may be different from the one used for the first Test.
Speaking on the subject, former Indian cricket player Ravi Shastri discussed how the Indian squad must to try to retain bowler Akash Deep for the Adelaide Test.
The pink ball tends to seam more than the red ball, which may lead India to select Akash Deep over Harshit Rana, Ravi Shastri added.
“You just need to keep in mind that this is a pink-ball test. The pink ball with extra lacquer is a little tougher and may swing and seam around a little, but I know Harshit Rana did a great job in that Test match. Shastri stated on the ICC Review, “That’s where I believe Akash Deep should be in the mix.”
“You see the conditions as you hit the ground, and you can decide whether to add more bounce and tempo. However, I would unquestionably keep Akash Deep in that 12 and remain vigilant about him,” Shastri continued.
India aims to maintain its magnificent form.
In Perth, the Indian squad achieved a stunning victory. In the first Test match, Australia and India faced off at the Optus Stadium. Following a lacklustre first innings from both teams, the Indian squad dominated the second innings.
Following centuries from Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal, India set a 534-run mark for the Australians to chase. The first Test of the series was won by India by a massive 295 runs, while the hosts were swept out for 238 runs. India is hoping to put up another strong performance and extend their lead as the second Test draws near.
