Ravi Shastri, a former Indian cricketer, chimed in on Zak Crawley’s time-wasting tactics in the final over of Day 3 of the upcoming England-India Test series. He believed that these kind of mind tricks were inherent in the game and might be expected in a high-octane competition like the one between the two teams.
Ravi Shastri stated that he was fine with Crawley’s behaviour, and that it was only natural for any player to act that way given the circumstances of the confrontation.
“Now, if I were wearing an Indian hat, I would have done all of that. You know, we call it Tamasha (drama). Everything is allowed on the playing field. You want all of that. You can’t just say, ‘Good morning, good evening, go home’. You know, a little argy-bargy is fine in the centre, as long as you don’t cross the line. So I’m fine with all of it,” Shastri told Sky Sports Cricket.
‘I would have done all that too, a little bit of argy-bargy is okay!’ 🗣️

For the unfamiliar, England faced only one over on the third day of play. An additional one could have easily fit in, but Crawley once stopped Jasprit Bumrah in the middle of his run-up and then signalled for the physio to attend to his finger after getting smacked on the glove.
Shubman Gill, the Indian skipper, was plainly upset with Crawley’s actions and confronted him. Several Indian players were seen clapping their hands sarcastically in response to what they saw to be Crawley’s purposeful attempt to waste time.
The first and only over of the hosts’ second innings produced two runs. England would hope to extend their lead by scoring quickly on the fourth day.
